Visitor Services and Practical Stops

The Village Visitor Center is a place to gather maps and local visitor information, while the Village’s public lots and on-street parking serve drivers. The Village operates public parking lots on Beach Road, Quirk Street, and James Street.

A New York State downtown assessment gives the Beach Road Lot 100 spaces, the Quirk Lot 45 spaces, and the James Street Lot 30 spaces.

On-street parking is metered in areas including Canada Street/Route 9, Ottawa Street, James Street, Amherst and Lower Amherst streets, Dieskau Street, part of McGillis Street, and Elizabeth Little Boulevard. A few non-metered spaces are on the west side of the village, including Helen Street and beyond it on Schuyler Street.

Electronic meters cost $2 per hour, with payment by the ParkMobile app or cash or quarters. Meters and pay stations operate from April 1 through October 31 annually.

Summer enforcement runs from 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM; meter operation is suspended during school hours on certain streets, and parking is free in late fall, winter, and early spring. Check the official site before you go for current visitor and parking information.

From Lake View Inn Lake George, the village centre is about a 13-minute walk. The Visitor Center can help you orient yourself once you arrive, especially if you want to combine the historic sites with time around the centre.
